Welcome Queila to the Stanley Case Scholarship family!

Queila (pronounced Kayla) Omena

On April 24, I had the distinct pleasure of meeting her at the annual UCO Donors Luncheon.  Stan’s sister Linda and his brother Steve had a chance to get to know her as well.

We were blown away by her vivacious personality, her self-confidence and her determination to make a difference!

A little about Queila:

  • She was born in Brazil and came to the USA five years ago.
  • Her brothers live in Oklahoma.
  • She is a rising senior at UCO, who “loves to write” (just as Stan did).
  • This past Spring, she was managing editor of the UCO newspaper The Vista, and worked part-time at News4.
  • Somehow she also found time to take part in the 2015 Miss UCO pageant and walked away with the “Miss Congeniality” title!
  • She’s also writing several books. One focuses on helping women become more self-confident.
  • Queila’s next goal: graduating in May 2016 with a degree in Mass Communications.

Congratulations Queila!
And to Dr. Gary Steward, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, and his committee of judges.
They are THREE for THREE in choosing the perfect recipients to carry on Stan’s legacy!!!
